Most of you will know what adrenalin is, how it relates to back pain may be more of a mystery. I will explain…

Adrenalin actually doesn’t have much to do with back pain, your Adrenal Glands do. Your Adrenal Glands produce adrenalin along with many other substances. Your Adrenal Glands help with anti-inflammatory products, they help to provide strength and support to your spine and joints.

If your Adrenals are not functioning correctly, you will lose structural support and back pain is more likely. If back pain occurs you will also produce less anti-inflammatory products and hence back pain is greater and slower to heal.

The answer is simple enough stimulate your Adrenals to work better. Then you will be stronger, have less back pain and if you do have incidents or injuries, you will produce the right amount of anti-inflammatories and heal quickly.

Your Adrenals will also give you more energy, help with blood sugar levels and many other general functions.

I know by now you may be saying “great, let’s get those Adrenals working – but how?

There are a few simple ways you can stimulate your adrenals to work better. Some use nutritional advice and others using techniques you may not have heard of before. Acupressure for example is less known about than Acupuncture. However you can do Acupressure at home, Acupuncture… well who is going to stick needles in them self anyway (and you might miss the actual points).

Acupressure has been around for thousands of years, is designed as a self help tool so you can retrain your body to work better. Your entire body is based on habitual processes – to change a habit you need to reinforce a new habit on a daily basis for 31 days. Then the process will remain at the new level. Don’t do 31 days – don’t change the habit.

Acupressure is therefore an ideal tool to change habits – to stimulate your adrenals and even to remove back pain (there are many Acupressure points that relate to back pain).

To stimulate your Adrenals you can do 3 things:

  1. Eat ¼ teaspoon of salt for every liter of water you drink. Your Adrenal glands need salt to function. Most people have cut salt out of their diets because of the risks of heart disease. It is the over use of salt that increases heart risks. Remove it too much and you deplete your Adrenals.
  2. Licorice is also good for your Adrenals. This is not the sugar type, but licorice root – which you may find in Health Stores either as a powder or as part of certain supplements. Be careful of supplements – take too much and over stimulate your Adrenals and then you will generate other health issues. In my opinion stick to 1 and 3 for the best Adrenal stimulation.
  3. Hold your elbow crease – there is an Acupressure point on the crease of your elbow. On the fleshy part not the bony point. Best of all these Acupressure points have a 3 inch effective radius so you won’t miss the point. All you do is hold the point – don’t rub or press hard. Hold it for a few minutes or more – you may feel a strong rhythmic pulsation in the point. This is what should happen – no pulse then the Acupressure point is malfunctioning.

Hold this point at least once day until you can feel this pulsation within a few seconds. This means the point is working properly and your Adrenals are functioning better.
