Hopefully you if you have back pain, you are aware of the 48 hour rule. If not then please read this and make sure you apply it or your back pain and the inflammation relating to it, may become a problem.
The 48 hour rule is simple – in the first 48 hours use ice.
Ice will reduce the inflammation that occurs in the first stages of back pain. Do not rush off to buy pills or potions to remove the inflammation. If you use ice in those first 48 hours the inflammation will disappear and your body has done the work for you.
You want your body to repair itself, that way it learns from the experience and will likely respond quicker the next time you injure yourself.
If you rush off and buy either some medication or even all the natural anti-inflammatories, your body becomes reliant on these.
Now don’t get me wrong, if you have a major injury, then sure you will need pain relief and medicated anti-inflammatories. But in those regular day to day injuries, the common back pain occurrences, if you do this you are doing more harm than good.
There is a big push to start using natural products, after all they are better for you. Well they may be natural, but they work on the same processes as medications – most medications started off as natural products anyway.
Both modalities take over from your body and do the work for it. If you continue to use these, then over time your body becomes lazy. You will find that you need more medication or herbs, or it takes longer to remove the inflammation.
If you allow your body to do the work, your back pain will respond quicker over time. Ice in those first 48 hours will remove the inflammation for most. Remember, if it is severe then medication is still your best option.
Taking natural pills or potions endlessly is just only masking the symptoms. You need to remove the inflammation and the causes of your back pain otherwise it will repeat again and again.
Use the 48 hour rule; remove your inflammation using ice and only use herbs or medication if the problem is more severe. Train your body to respond better and back pain is likely to worry you in your future.
