Do you have a disc herniation? Are you one of the many people that believe that disc herniations cause back pain? Think again.

You will see in many web sites, especially from those who have little or no training in the spine and how it functions, that disc herniations are one of the biggest causes of back pain.

If you actually look at the statistics you can be confident there is not much to worry about.

herniated discIf you took 100 people at random, you will find at least 30% of those who DO NOT have back pain have a disc herniation. Actually some statistics will even increase that number to almost 60% if you take into account disc bulges at a minor level.

Remember, these are people who do not have any back pain at all.

If they are not having back pain and have disc herniations, then if you look at the population who do have back pain, you will find the same statistics.

This means that of the amount of people with back pain, between 30% and 60% will have disc herniations naturally, that are not causing their back pain.

Yet there are many that are treated as if their disc herniation was the cause of their back pain. Medications are used, exercises to reduce them, and even in a lot of cases even surgery. This is why the statistics on back pain relief from surgery are very poor.

The disc herniation probably wasn’t the cause. So removing the disc or correcting the herniation will not change your back pain.

Disc herniations are not a common cause of your back pain. If they are, then you need to address them and be checked by a professional in this area. But for most, this is not a concern.

The most common cause of you back pain still remains as it always has. Back pain is caused by muscle and joint imbalances. Sure there are times when disc herniations are the cause. But this is only in a few percent of people.

Back pain relief is easy and simple. Do not be confused, do not believe in all those sites that say discs are common and you need their particular therapy. There are many fitness trainers; self help people and those who have “suffered back pain” experts, all with minimal training and knowledge on how the spine works.

I never put down sites or people that offer help. You need to learn ways to help ease your back pain as back pain relief is simple to do at home. All I want you to realise is that disc herniations are not to be scared of. Do not buy into the scandal of believing that a disc herniation is a common cause of your back pain.
