I wrote recently that back pain causes are not what they seemed (Back Pain Causes Never Mentioned) , that due to the law of cause and effect, all the jargon saying back pain is caused by muscles tightening, injuries, degeneration or even discs is plainly not true. And that comes from scientific research.
So if back pain is not caused by these physical factors, what causes back pain?
Right now you may be a little confused or even worried, because for years you thought your back pain came from your muscles or joints. Physically if your joints or muscles are out of balance they will create back pain, they do not cause back pain.
Cause means the underlying reason why things happen. If joint or muscle failed to work properly they will create back pain. The reason these tire or tighten is the actual cause. Why?
Do your muscles or joints stop working for no reason? No, they do this because there is a cause. Sure if you were 100% healthy and then had a fall, then the injury caused your back pain.
One problem, statistics say that the so called injury that people mention is not large enough to “cause” back pain. People mention tripping over a step, lifting a box or object or child. Things you do day in and day out, never enough to cause your back pain.
So what is the cause of back pain then?
The true back pain causes are your poor habits. Don’t flip out or turn off. What I mean has nothing to do with what you eat, how you work or play, or anything along those lines.
Habit relates to your body becoming use to activity. If a joint or muscle tightens now from some minor activity, if it stays like this for a few days, it becomes a habit. It is not large enough to cause back pain, as research has proven. It is also not severe enough to create pain.
So you get up tomorrow and do more activities at work or play. Later that week or month, something else creates more muscle or joint tightness. It again stays that ways for a few days due to habits, and the pressure builds up a little more.
Can you see the pattern?
Over time these small habitual processes get worse. Then one day you lift your child shift a chair, garden or whatever…
Suddenly you have back pain, the pressure has built up enough to cause sudden back pain. Actually it is not sudden, it is a build up over weeks, months or even years. These little habitual processes that keep tension in your joints and muscles. Finally the pressure is too much and the next activity “causes” back pain.
This is why you don’t need to do too much to stop back pain. All you need to do is change the habits of your spine and teach your muscles and joints to relax and stay that way. Habits can be good or bad, you can get the good habits to work for you and relieve back pain.
The back pain causes are not physical, they are habitual. You can change these if you learn simple ways to change the habits, something only you can do.
