Chronic back pain … do you have it? Are you sure you know what it is and if so what you can do to stop it?
Most people look at chronic back pain as a longevity process. The longer you have your back pain; surely this means it is chronic. However …
Chronic back pain can be classed as “chronic” or “habitual”. There is a difference.
True “chronic” back pain means a daily dose of back pain. It is there constantly every day, it never leaves you and can have flare-ups every now and then.
“Habitual” back pain is the recurrence of back pain on a regular or semi-regular basis. This means that certain days you can work and play and suffer no back pain at all. Then there are other days when you back pain is there and it stops you enjoying the life you wish to lead.
So is there a difference?
The actual back pain is the same, the underlying mechanism is different. Back pain that is there every day means you have muscles, joints and your pelvis constantly under stress. The muscles have become tired so are tight all the time, joints have slowed in motion and create pain whether you use them or not. Your pelvis is twisted and distorted, creating increased pressure through your entire spine.
Sounds dramatic, but chronic back pain is still very easy to remove and prevent.
Habitual back pain is a process of muscles, joints and your pelvis being tired. Certain days when you are doing more, or under a bit of stress, they tire further and back pain occurs. Then other days your body recovers and your back pain eases and life seems okay.
Again easy to correct and prevent.
Chronic back pain and habitual back pain are caused by the same 4 processes that create all back pain problems…
Tight muscles that need to be stretched. Weak muscles that need to have their nerve and blood supply stimulated. Joints that are not moving correctly and your pelvis that is out of balance.
Correct these 4 processes and back pain, whether it is habitual or chronic back pain, will ease and disappear.
