Imagination…
Now before you switch off, this does not mean all your back pain is made up in your mind. What I mean is this…
I get a common comment made by patients when they have had back pain for years. What they say is “I don’t expect you to get me better as I have had this for years”.
I reply “why come in to see me then?”
If you don’t expect to get better, then the chances are you won’t. Positive thinking does help, but it is what you think that determines how quickly and at what level your back pain will ease. If you are thinking you can now wish your back pain away, then you may be able to. Unlikely but it is a possibility.
There are physical as well as emotional factors that create your back pain. You need to address both, for permanent back pain relief.
One of the easiest ways to deal with the emotional side is to accept you will be free of back pain… 100%.
Most people want, need or wish for their back pain to disappear. Wanting, needing or wishing means that subconsciously you expect that it won’t, or not completely.
You need to accept that you can and will be pain free. You can do this by making affirmations, visualizing running around free of your back pain and by feeling pain free.
Don’t use the words back pain, don’t think the words back pain … think the words healthy, flexible, and strong and balanced.
Walk around in the day and say mentally that you are strong; all your joints move with ease, flexibility and your structural system is in balance. You don’t need to say this specifically but make the words for your self and use positive words. The big thing to add at the end is the word “now”.
Meaning that this has already happened. It is not the future, it is the present. If you state you are strong, flexible, in balance now – then your mind accepts this as true. Your healing processes scan your body to find what areas are in contrast to the statement and start to heal these areas.
There have been many cases where positive thinking alone has removed back pain. My opinion is to cover both – do the mental exercises while you are still using the physical techniques to help balance your muscles and joints.
Then you have the complete package to remove and prevent your aches and pains. The beauty of doing the mental side of the techniques is nobody can see you doing them.
Stress is a common cause of back pain. It tightens your muscles, which allows joints to slow in motion and back pain then occurs. Using mental techniques helps to tell your body to heal; it also helps to relieve the stress causing a lot of your aches and pains.
Most Chiropractors, Osteopaths, Physio’s, and Doctors discount the mental side of back pain. It does have an important part, but it is a part you can change your self very easily. And it is only a thought away…
Just imagine … running around feeling 100%, every joint is both flexible and strong… your spine is balanced and you can do every activity with grace and ease … every year you get better and better in every way … life as it should and is… if you imagine it so … the ideal back pain relief.
